IPv6
IPv6 connectivity for Tasmanian Cloud resources
:::warning[Coming Soon] IPv6 support is currently under development. This page outlines our planned offerings. :::
Overview
We're working on adding IPv6 connectivity to our infrastructure. This will enable your resources to communicate over IPv6 networks, supporting modern internet protocols and future-proofing your deployments.
Planned Features
IPv6 Addressing
We're planning to provide:
- IPv6 address allocation - Assign IPv6 addresses to your instances
- /64 subnets - Full subnet for your use
- IPv6-only networks - For modern workloads
Dual Stack
The system will support dual-stack (IPv4 + IPv6) connectivity:
| Feature | IPv4 | IPv6 |
|---|---|---|
| Instance addressing | Available | Coming |
| Load balancer frontends | Available | Coming |
| DNS A records | Available | Coming |
| DNS AAAA records | N/A | Coming |
| Egress to internet | Available | Coming |
Use Cases
| Use Case | Description |
|---|---|
| Modern applications | Native IPv6 support for new deployments |
| IoT devices | Massive address space for device networks |
| Compliance | Meet IPv6 readiness requirements |
| Global reach | Connect to IPv6-only networks and services |
What We're Solving
- Future-proofing - Prepare for IPv4 exhaustion
- Modern protocols - Support the latest internet standards
- IoT scaling - Massive address space for connected devices
- Compliance - Meet government and enterprise IPv6 requirements
